January 19 Carolinas RIMS Luncheon

Happy New Year everyone!  Register today for the Carolinas RIMS January luncheon on January 19, 2011 at the Renaissance Hotel in Charlotte.  We will be joined by Mel Garofal and Jeff Kadis from Hedrick-Gardner.  Mel will speak about ADA - "Defending Lawsuits brought Under the Americans with Disabilities Act" and Jeff will discuss the recent changes in NC Workers Compensation Laws - "Recent Amendments to the North Carolina Workers Compensation Act".

Mel Garofal serves as the managing partner for the firm and practices in the Charlotte office.  Since beginning practice in 1978, he has tried in excess of one hundred jury trials to verdict in both state and federal court, and has also handled over forty appeals before the North Carolina Supreme Court, The North Carolina Court of Appeals and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jeff Kadis is a partner in the firm's Charlotte office. He specializes in workers' compensation, with emphasis in the areas of occupational disease and chemical exposure claims.  He has extensive experience representing business clients at hearings and at the appellate level before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court.

Carolinas RIMS Luncheon - November 17

Please join us on November 17 for our Carolinas RIMS luncheon at the Renassaince Hotel.  We will be joined by Tim Quinlan, Economist for Wells Fargo.  Based in Charlotte, N.C., he provides analysis and commentary on U.S. business spending as well as macroeconomic developments in foreign economies.  Prior to joining the economics group in 2007, Tim held positions within Wachovia as a financial advisor and within Evergreen Investments as a trust account portfolio manager and investment strategist. Prior to joining Wachovia in 2002, he spent several years working for Putnam Investments in Boston, Mass.

Make sure you mark your calendars now for the 2012 RIMS Southeast Educational Conference that will be held October 3 - October 5 in Asheville, NC.  The conference will be held at the beautiful and historic Grove Park Inn.
